Submissions for the Art in Science competition are due October 20, 2021.
Scientists at UNC School of Medicine truly embody the slogan of UNC Health – “Scientists of discovery, artists of innovation. To celebrate Academic Research Week 2021 (November 8-12), SOM invites submissions for innovative science images that showcase outstanding biomedical research at the School and the beauty that is reflected in science.
Each SOM laboratory is eligible to submit a scientific image that has been taken/published within the past 18 months that depicts the biology the lab is focusing on.
A submission must include:
- An original research image (please provide the highest resolution image you have; must be > 300dpi at a size of 8inX8in or better)
- A title and brief description of what the image represents and the underlying biomedical relevance.
- The name of the lab’s principal investigator and the person(s) who captured the image. The PI must have a primary or cross-appointment in the SOM.
All submissions should be emailed to [email protected] by October 20, 2021. Please include a link to a drive or dropbox location if the file size is too large for email.
Images will be chosen for their aesthetic excellence, scientific or technical interest, and universal appeal to scientists and non-scientists. Up to three images will be selected for display during University Research Week and each winning lab will receive $300.
