SOM Research Office Accepting Bridge and Boost Funding Applications

UNC School of Medicine is accepting applications for bridge and boost funding. The application deadline is October 10.

The Office of Medical School Research is now accepting applications for bridge and increase funding.

Bridge the funding provides ongoing support to successful research projects that suffer from an interruption in funding. Researchers eligible for funding in this cycle must have had a concurrent renewal application for an R01 or equivalent grant reviewed in a recent study section of the NIH. The maximum amount provided by the Dean’s Office for bridge funding is $50,000. For more information on eligibility and application requirements for bridge funding, please refer to the RFA linked here.

Increase funding is designed to increase the chances of funding a new NIH (or similar) grant that has been favorably reviewed but requires additional revisions and preliminary data in order to be funded on a resubmission. Up to $25,000 will be provided to successful applicants for laboratory supplies, animal expenses, basic services, and research staff salaries. For more information on applications for increase funding, please visit the link here for the current RFA.

The deadline for Bridge / Increase Applications are due at 5 p.m. on October 10, 2022. Please contact Trisha Dant with any questions at [email protected]
