Job Responsibilities

  • Marketing

    • Develops and implements the marketing strategy in China, in collaboration with the management of the practice in China.

    • Collaborates with Chinese practice leadership to develop a stronger internal prosecution process.

    • Oversees the creation and maintenance of bilingual marketing materials to be used for proposals, qualification packages and interviews.

    • Collaborates with project managers on individual activities and customized presentations when needed.

    • Collaborates with Global Marketing Manager on the development and implementation of new global marketing materials

    • Contributes to the shared global library of resumes and project-specific content.

    • Ensures local office documents are available and up-to-date on OpenAsset.

    • Coaches colleagues on marketing and storytelling.

    • Participate in global conversations about marketing practices and strategies.

  • Business development

    • Contributes to the implementation of the business plan by creating strategic and thoughtful marketing materials and ensuring that marketing materials convey strong and persuasive messages

    • Researches, interprets and shares market information, including specific customer research.

    • Collaborates with management to evaluate potential clients and new projects, ensuring regular decision-making.

  • Team management

    • Manages the China marketing team, including its professional development, in three offices (New York, Chicago, San Francisco)

    • Distributes the marketing workload within the team

  • Other

    • Leads the marketing portion of regular leadership meetings and participates in company-wide practice calls.

    • Collaborates with the Global Head of Marketing and Business Development and other leaders to develop and implement company-wide marketing strategies.

    • Collaborates with the Global Head of Marketing and Business Development to develop and manage the annual marketing budget, resources and staffing efforts.

    • Tracks opportunities using Salesforce and effectively uses Salesforce to manage work and communicate with others through reports.

    • Acts as a key resource for the China practice regarding Salesforce training and quality assurances

    • Liaise with the communications team in China, both with content and insights to support marketing and business development efforts.

    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Management Responsibilities

  • Actively leads, trains and coaches team members.

  • Directly supervises staff and is committed to the professional development of direct reports.

  • Develops and engages in a talent management strategy to find specialists, leaders and future professionals for the business through CV review and interviews as appropriate.

  • Actively participates in internal and external professional development opportunities.

  • Develops and/or manages, in collaboration with team members, a clear and coherent work plan to achieve the budget, deliverables and schedule.

  • Encourages the integration of sustainable strategies into all project assignments as appropriate.

  • Contributes to the development of standards, policies and procedures.

  • Protects SOM from financial and legal risks.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, urban design, marketing, communication or related field.

  • 10 years of A/E/C marketing experience in the Chinese market, with a minimum of 2 years in a management role.

  • Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to work effectively within a matrix organization.

  • Experience managing a team in multiple offices is preferred.

  • Strong people and project management skills.

  • Strong graphic sensibility.

  • Strong storytelling skills.

  • Enthusiastic collaborator and team spirit.

  • Proactive, detail-oriented and driven to achieve tangible results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Autonomous and creative, results-oriented problem solver.

  • Must have experience in Salesforce or other CRM software.

  • Strong Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and Google Workspace skills.

  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English; other languages ​​a plus.
